Fire Responder – Basic
Preamble:
The instructors that will be presenting this program are experienced fire fighters from municipal fire brigades and well experienced professional fire fighting instructors
Target Population:
This course is designed for any persons who in the course of their normal duties would be required to identify a fire and take the necessary action in order to contain or extinguish it according to their procedures.
Desired Outcome:
After completion of this course the candidate will be able to safely apply firefighting techniques.
Duration: 1 Day
Minimum/maximum no of delegates: 10-20
Course Prerequisites:
The candidate should be able to communicate and be functionally literate in English. The candidate should be medically sound and fit.
Core Content:
- Fire behavior and the fire tetrahedron
- Compartment fire behavior
- Actions to take in the case of an emergency
- Classes of fire
- Types of firefighting equipment (hand held extinguishers and hose reels).
- Application of fire fighting techniques and classes of fire extinguishers
